“m7” Chords

“m7” chords, like “7” chords, assume a flattened seventh note in the major scale. The “m7” builds from the minor chord discussed above. As a side note, this ♭7 note of the major scale is the regular seventh note in the minor scale. A minor scale is 1, 2, ♭3, 4, 5, ♭6, ♭7 and then 8 (or 1 repeated). To build the “m7” chord we use 1, ♭3, 5, ♭7. For a “Cm7” the notes would be “C”, “E♭”, “G” and “B♭”.
